Dana
Stockwell is a Landscape Architect with over 30 years experience in all aspects of landscape design. He is the Principal Partner with DSL Design Consulting. He has extensive experience in design and planning of: parks, trails/greenways, recreation, community , urban, commercial, waterfronts/shorelines and residential. He also has extensive experience with resource and environmental manage planning , project construction management, maintenance, cultural resource planning, masterplanning and universal design. Dana has worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers as Outdoor Recreation Planner, Environmnetal Planner and Landscape Architect. He was the Accessibility Coordinator for the Pacific Region of the US Fish and Wildlife Service and a Community Planner/ Landscape Architect for the Tennessee Valley Authority. He has worked at several private Landscape Architectural firms. Dana has won awards for his work and has had one of his designs featured in the book 'Beautiful Universal Design'.
Lau
rie Ringaert is a researcher, educator consultant and occupational therapist who has been involved in universal design/access issues for over 30 years. Laurie is known internationally for her work. Laurie is a Principal Partner with DSL Design Consulting. She is on contract as the Project Director of 'Measuring up the North' run by the North Central Municipal Association and the BC Paraplegic Association. She also serves as a Senior Researcher for the Candian Center on Disability Studies and recently completed the first study on Visitable Housing in Canada and was project lead there on projects on Aging and Disability and Farmers with Disabilities. She previously worked as the Director of the Center for Universal Design at NC State University and the Director of the Universal Design Institute in Canada as well as her own consulting business. She is involved in many building standards and codes committees in Canada including the CSA-B651 Accessibility of the Built Environment Standard; the B651.1 Accessible Banking Machines Standard and serves on the research on Accessibililty Tourism and has served as a consultant on the topic to the hospitality and tourism industry intervationally. Laurie is a certified Universal Trails Assessment Trainer, has taken several courses on universal outdoor recreation design as well as on other aspects of universal design. She has served as a consultant, researcher and educator in universal design. Laurie also has extensive experience in project management. Laurie provides workshops on universal design upon request.
